Going Rogue (i.e. We Want Spring!)

ROGUEa playfully mischievous person; scamp; vagabond
Can you feel it? Spring seems to be just around the corner and this is the time of year when I would love nothing more than to pack up a suitcase and hit the open road in search of blue skies. Living off the land in a shack somewhere on Mount Hood starts to sound like a totally valid life choice. So this weekend, go rogue, be playfully mischievous! Adorn your shoes with gold wings, trim your mustache, put on your flight cap and, if you're able, pack your suitcase and go adventuring... just be sure to send a postcard!

From Wedding Party to Party Animals

If this tie is any indication of Seth and Rachel's upcoming May wedding, their guests should plan to have a seriously good time! Just had to share this order for our At the Zoo ties, lined in lime, going out today. The six members of the wedding party, along with the ring bearer, will be adorned with lions and tigers and bears, oh my! I love it! It's a jungle out there and we might as well embrace it! Best wishes go out to Seth and Rachel and I hope they have as much fun wearing these surprisingly dapper ties as I had making them. This is a limited edition tie and, while we have a few left in stock here, we're glad so many of them are going to live it, wedding style! Did you or would go animalistic at your wedding? Let us know in the comments!

Sportingly Good: Vintage Football Finds

While I won't claim to be a huge Green Bay fan, as a Seahawks devotee, I was on the side of anyone who was finally going to put Roethlisberger and the Steelers in their place (see Superbowl XL for my severe dislike of all things Pittsburg). So, we're celebrating the Packers' win with this fun retro trip into football history...

Black and Blue and Grey All Over

Anyone who is familiar with my line of handmade children's couture, PetalPetal, will not be shocked to discover that, should they ever venture into my personal closet, it's bright in there (and color coordinated... doesn't everyone do that...)! The funny thing is, most days I live in the classics: Black, Blue and Grey. I may toss on a red Anthropologie blouse, but 90% of it will inevitably be covered in a black jumper and large grey cardigan. So, if you're like me and live for a heather grey sweater or little navy skirt, enjoy these finds below. Here's to hoping they all make it into my own closet one day...

Primitive Inspiration from Amedeo Modigliani

I've been obsessed lately with everything Primitive, and have always been fascinated with portraits, so when I came across this Modigliani print, "Gypsy Woman with Baby," at a vintage shop on Killingsworth, I thought I had died and gone to Figurative Heaven! Get it?...
You can all tell that its on a chipped old piece of wood, making it WAY cooler, right? I seriously considered stripping my studio of everything modern and replacing it with all things simple, rustic, folky and/or ready to crumble, but as my tax return is for saving, not spending, this year, I will have to make due with sending my wish list out into the universe (and sharing it with you....). Please enjoy these beautifully soulful pieces found on Etsy. Just don't buy them because I want them! Or if you do, don't let me catch you...

By the way, in the course of looking up the history of this piece, I came across this cool, though not recently updated, blog called Artist of the Week for Kids. Here's the link to their write up on Modigliani: http://bit.ly/eL68Xg
