Snow Day!

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we're on our first storm watch of the season. Feeling inspired by the few flakes that hit the Portland area on Sunday, a friend and I pulled out the snowshoes and took to the Mirror Lake trails on Mt. Hood. Truthfully, we ended up doing more photo snapping than snowshoeing, but can you blame us? It was an absolutely gorgeous day and a reminder of why the Pacific Northwest is possibly the most beautiful place to live...

A Vintage Carnival Photoshoot...

Hello Blog! I've been away so have some catching up to do, but I wanted to start the New Year off on a beautiful foot, so, with that in mind, feast your eyes on the amazing work of Ali Wood Photography! She set up an amazing shoot for the Christmas shots of her wee ones this year with a Vintage Carnival theme. Brilliant, no? Even more brilliant... She let me in on the fun! Both her littles are wearing designs from the VintageChild:Modern SpringSummer12 Collection, which is now available for preorder (but more on that later)...

For now, just enjoy a little flashback courtesy Ali Wood Photography...

Totally made your day, right?

Merry and Bright...

If you are in the northwest corner of North America, you may know that this is the month for rain, sleet and snow. This year, however, is going out with a bang in the weather department for us Northwestians. Is it freezing? Yes! Have my chickens taken to pecking the back door to come in and warm up? Yes! Was I pushed down the back porch stairs this morning by a dog slipping out of control across the frost? Yes! But nonetheless, I am SO grateful for the fact that this month has been
MERRY and BRIGHT!

Mr. Pushy... (See, doesn't he look ashamed?)
By the way, he knocked over the CHRISTMAS TREE last year, so I guess better me than the tree?
I mean, my broken limbs will heal...

Where the chickens are meant to be...

Where the chickens are...

More things that I am SO thankful for...

My happy puppies running free in an empty park...

... with a giant stick that is now sitting in our front yard.

My grouchy puppy who is having none of it...

The littles in my family, like this one (who I am realizing is not so little anymore)...

Having the patience, creativity and physical ability to be able to make gifts to give those who are near and dear to me (strawberry sachets!)...

New additions to the family, such as my brother and sister-in-law's new "baby" Hera.
(Not thankful for the blue carpet in the studio though, sorry. Can't do it. )

And, of course, our gorgeous, sparkly Christmas tree!
(Never mind the face in the background. Just focus on the shiny lights!)

So, wherever you are, may your Christmas be MERRY and BRIGHT, no matter the weather.
And may you find the multitude of tiny things to be grateful for this season!

Postcards from a West Coast Road Trip

If you have never had the opportunity to travel the West Coast, here are a few snapshots from our recent travels through Northern California before heading west to the beautiful Pacific Coast. From the pumpkin and corn fields, to the Redwoods and the rocky cliffs dropping into the sea, I was reminded how lucky I am to live in such a diverse and stunning location...

These Kids are Animals

Last Sunday I had the opportunity to work with two A.M.A.Z.I.N.G photographers in the Seattle-area Amanda Buechler Photography and Michelle Renee Photography, as well as four little wild childs... Grace, Milena, Audrey and Emma! Four hours of outfit changes, shooing away gardner snakes and praying for the rain, rain to go away paid off! Check out more sweet shots below and get in touch with Amanda or Michelle if you need someone to capture some childhood moments of your little one! Masks by Mahalo and lips by Whisker Works. Hair by the fabulous Tara Murphy.
